The couple were married Dec. 23, 1961, in Chase City, Va.
They raised two daughters, Debbie Ellis of Hammett and Sheila Garrett of Greer, S.C.
They have five grandchildren, Nathan Owens, Anna Warden, Kathryn Good, Ashley Gibson and Michelle Payne and six great-grandchildren.
During their marriage they have lived in many places, including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Idaho. Now that they are retired they have settled down in Hammett.
