Winless Tigers return to court, ready to face Twin Falls, Jerome

Thursday, December 29, 2011

The Mountain Home Tigers return to action this week with non-conference home games against Twin Falls and Jerome.

The Tigers are still looking for their first win after six games.

Mountain Home expects some good competition from the visitors from the Great Basin West conference, according to Tigers head basketball coach Tony Kerfoot.

"It'll be excellent competition," he said. "They'll be very tough. They're just like everybody else in our league, and hopefully not any better. There are going to be games where I think if we can get our act together and we come out and play and execute well, we're going to have a chance to win the ball games, and on the flip side there, if we don't play real well, we're not going to win."

Coach Kerfoot hopes to use the break to fine-tune his "work in progress" basketball team and get ready for the second half of the season.

"That's kind of where we're at," the coach said. "We need to come together and fix some things and go to work on the practice floor and I think we'll be fine. We've just got to stretch it out a little bit. We've shown moments where I thought we've played well, but we just don't do it for very long."

The Mountain Home Tigers host Twin Falls for a 6 p.m. varsity game on Thursday before they host Jerome at 6 p.m. Friday at Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
