Thursday, December 1, 2011

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers cruised to their first road win of the girls basketball season last Tuesday night when they beat Caldwell 54-26 at Caldwell.

Mountain Home got off to a great start, shooting out to a 16-4 first-quarter lead. They led 26-12 at the half.

Another good effort in the third quarter pushed the Lady Tigers to a 42-15 lead after three. Their biggest lead was 29 points, before Caldwell cut it to 24, and the final score was 54-26.

Mountain Home girls basketball coach Brent Keener was glad to finally win a road game.

"We've been really up and down so far this season, playing well at home and poorly on the road, so tonight was our first game that we played pretty well on the road," the Mountain Home coach said. "There were some stretches when we struggled to score, but we also had some really good stretches where we scored in bundles. We've got to find more consistency and shoot the ball a little better."

Marissa Streeter and Keesha Janis-Gibson paced the Lady Tigers with 13 and 12 points respectively. Streeter's 13 points was a season high.

Streeter also led the team with five steals.

Janis-Gibson had four assists as well.

Teresa Fredell upped her season high with nine points. Selena Foster and Tessa Pachner both added six points, which was a new season high for Pachner. Emilee Schetzle scored four points, Courtney Christiansen two, and Alexis Berry and Hailey Belt both had one point.

The win improved the Lady Tigers to 2-1 in conference play and 2-3 overall. Mountain Home has two conference games this week, playing at Skyview on Thursday and hosting Bishop Kelly on Saturday.
