Impact of base's civilian job cuts remains unknown

Mountain Home Air Force Base expects to cut its civilian workforce by roughly 8 percent as part of a Defense Department force reduction plan.

While the local Air Force base expects to eliminate 34 civilian positions as part of the Air Force's mandate to cut 9,000 government jobs, it doesn't directly translate into people losing their jobs here.

    Read the blog comments that came out when I put this out there. The Saudias will save us all. What people do not realize is that these cuts were mandated across the board. And as for it not directly translating into people losing their jobs, I know of 12 people that were told their positions were on the chopping block while empty positions were not touched at all.
