Reader likes recycling plan

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Dear editor:

I was very happy to read in the paper dated Oct. 19 -- headline reads "Allied Waste plans major changes in recycling."

I recycle everything that is possible to recycle. I fill my blue bin every week. It is heavy to take to the curb. I have to drag it out there. But I do not want to fill the landfill.

I wish everybody would recycle.

I hope the new containers with a cover and wheels will encourage everybody to recycle.

I am 70 years old and I learned about recycling when I was in high school and have been doing it ever since. I want to save our environment so our children and grandchildren will not be overwhelmed with trash and will know that recycling helps our earth as God would like. HE created this earth for us to take care of and to enjoy. God does not like us to throw trash out of cars or left in parks on the ground.

Please readers, recycle all you can and put the rest in trash cans.

I only put out my trash can when it is full, unless something in there might stink. On average I put it out every two months. It would work better for me if Allied Waste would pick up recycled trash every week and regular trash every other week. If more people recycle maybe that will happen.
