Soccer Tigers win season closer, drop district opener

The Mountain Home Tigers closed out their regular season boys soccer schedule with a win over Emmett, but dropped their district tourney opener to Caldwell on Saturday.

Middleton 3, Tigers 0

The Tigers played at Middleton last Monday and came up short to the Vikings, 3-0, in a hard-fought game. Mountain Home could not get any shots to fall for them. Tomas Guillen had six saves on goal and Jack Richelieu 13, as they split the goalkeeper duties.

Tigers 3, Emmett 2

The Tigers celebrated Senior Night with a 3-2 win over Emmett Thursday night in the rain at Eastside Park. Tyler McCloud, Austin Clark and Julian Puente scored goals for Mountain Home. McCloud and Clark also had assists. Meanwhile, Tomas Guillen had 14 saves on goal.

Caldwell 1, Tigers 0

Mountain Home went into Saturday's opening round of the District III 4A Boys Soccer Tournament at Skyview as the number six seed. They Tigers opened against third-seeded Caldwell, whom they battled Caldwell tough, but fell short, 1-0.

Jack Richelieu had six saves on goal for the Tigers, while Tomas Guillen had 12 saves.

Caldwell, which remained unbeaten and ranked number one in the state, had to forfeit eight games earlier in the week when the Idaho High School Activities Association determined a couple of their players had played in games not sanctioned by the IHSAA during the summer.

The Caldwell loss put Mountain Home in the consolation bracket against Bishop Kelly on Monday. The Tigers had swept the Knights in two 1-0 wins during the regular season.
