Cross-country squads place during invitational meet

Mountain Home ran at the Gary Ward Invitational cross country meet at Lakeview Park in Nampa last Thursday, finishing seventh in the girls' competition and eighth in the boys' race.

Eagle won the girls competition with 44 points. Vallivue was second with 63, Kuna third with 92, followed by Bishop Kelly at 142, Middleton with 147, Emmett with 162, Mountain Home at 178, New Plymouth at 179, Weiser with 202 and Nampa with 238.

Sarah Richins led the Mountain Home girls, finishing 18th in a time of 20:41.99. Kacee Cameron was 31st (21:16.54), Shelby Henrick 34th (21:27.17), Arisha Karren 44th (22:12.76) and Alicia Reynolds 60th (23:57.30).

Eagle also won the boys meet, scoring 22 points. Kuna was second with 76, Rocky Mountain third with 112, followed by Columbia at 130, Nampa at 136, Vallivue with 145, Bishop Kelly with 169, Mountain Home with 186, Middleton at 199, Weiser at 279, Emmett with 309 and Nampa with 333.

Mike Price led the Mountain Home boys, finishing fourth and setting a new personal best with a time of 16:37.68. All the Tiger varsity boys set new personal bests. Taylor Croft came in 34th (17:42.32), Daniel Courtright 47th (18:13.49), Jon Dodge 54th (18:30.70), Steven Kreyche 58th (18:43.17) and Andy Croft was 64th (18:58.83).

Tracy Gordon led the Mountain Home girls in the JV race, finishing 73rd, with a new personal best time of 25:25.65. Rachel Goodman finished 90th (26:04.95) and Erika Cook sliced over 90 seconds off her previous best time with her 123rd finish (28:25.11).

Cody Ashby led Mountain Home in the JV boys' meet, finishing 100th, with a new best time of 20:19.43. Nolan Pasqualetti came in 130th, also with a new personal best (20:50.07). Andrew Turner was 188th (23:08.89), Connor McCellen 203rd (24:46.46 -- new PR), D.J. Johnson 222nd (24:52.08 -- new PR), Dylan Goodall 223rd (25:16.19) and Cody Price 226th (25:16.89 -- new PR).

"Both the boys and girls teams ran very well," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root of their effort at the Nampa meet.

"It was cool and wet," he added. "Almost everyone on the team ran a new seasonal best, with many running lifetime bests."

The Tigers will host the Mountain Home Invitational Thursday at Desert Canyon Golf Course in Mountain Home.
