Progress is slowly being made on the effort to locate a training squadron of the Royal Saudi Arabia air force at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Progress is slowly being made on the effort to locate a training squadron of the Royal Saudi Arabian air force at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

In fact, most observers close to the negotiations expect the Saudis to sign a Letter of Agreement, or LOA, before the end of the year.

In the meantime, technical teams have continued to visit the airbase and lay the groundwork for the agreement.

  • I don't like to repeat comments, but it seems that my banter box comment from last month on this topic has disappeared.

As per an article in the base newspaper back in June of this year, the Saudis were supposed to have signed an agreement by the end of June or the entire weapons purchase was to go back into renegotiation. Now we know part of the answer. The agreement was not signed, but it seems that the buy did not go back into renegotiation either. How come the Saudis are not being held to the terms of the original timeline? It would seem that our government is too busy bending over backwards for them. What about scoping meetings? Are we going to be able to provide comments on this? I suspect this is going to be foisted upon us, and it will not be a good deal for Mountain Home.

  • Put a big X on Mountain Home and say welcome to terrorists. Thank you to our elected officials for this "gift." You never want to do number 2 where you eat. Now we can once again train the next group of people for yet another 911. Sure, why not! Only in America.
