Girl Scouts say thanks

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Dear editor:

As Girl Scout leaders for Troop #347, we would like to thank the community of Mountain Home for your support in the last year.

In just ten short months, we have bonded and accomplished so much! The girls participated in numerous service projects.

They adopted a child off the Caring tree at Christmas, launched a reusable bag drive, did a park cleanup of Legacy Park and donated food and blankets to the local animal shelter. We are so proud of you girls!

This summer, because of the support from people and businesses in this community we were able to take the girls to Summer Camp in Salmon, where they experienced the outdoors and many of the girls rode a horse for the first time!

In addition to that, we just got back from Oregon where the girls hiked five miles to waterfalls the first day and spent the second day rowboating, fishing and swimming at Lost Lake.

We believe these outdoor experiences are such a good way for the girls to grow and develop into fine young women.

Thanks again, Mountain Home. We welcome any suggestions for service projects for the upcoming year to help meet the needs of Mountain Home.
