Pool party for dogs set

Friday, August 12, 2011
Dogs will get a chance to swim at the city pool Sunday.

As the year's pool season winds down, the city's parks and recreation department will host its second annual pool party just for canines Sunday afternoon.

Held at the city pool complex at 990 McKenna Drive, the cost is $5 per animal with a limit of two dogs per owner.

Dogs up to 30 pounds are invited to dip into the pool from noon to 2 p.m. with larger dogs permitted to use the facility from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Because of the unusual nature of the event, parks and recreation officials emphasized several rules for this event:

* Only dogs may use the pool with no people allowed to enter the water.

* Owners must accompany their animals at all times with proof of shots mandatory for each pet.

* Dogs must remain off their leash with no pinch collars permitted.

* No aggressive dogs (or owners) are allowed.

* No dogs in season are allowed.

* Owners must clean up after their pets.

* No dog food or treats are allowed although toys are welcome.

The city of Mountain Home and parks and recreation are not responsible for any damages or injuries to dogs or owners during this event.
