Union Pacific upgrades local rail lines

Workers with Union Pacific Railroad rolled through Mountain Home last week as part of a multi-million dollar project to upgrade the company's existing rail lines across southern Idaho.

Mountain Home in one of several communities benefitting from the corporation's $23.1 transportation infrastructure project, which runs from here to Weiser and from Pocatello to Idaho Falls to the east.

As the project moved closer to the city, railroad workers staged out of Railroad Park with buses transporting the crews to the actual work sites.

  • From what I used to get paid for doing that job sounds about right. We didn't have any machinery to use back then just a shovel, tongs, and spike hammer.
