Letter to the Editor

Garden tour came together thanks to lots of help

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Dear editor:

A feel of "Summer Fiesta" was in the air on Saturday, June 25, during the 15th annual garden tour. Thanks to everyone who attended and made it a great success.

We would especially like to thank the garden owners for sharing their beautiful gardens, Larry and Pati Anderson, Ron and Nancy Evans, Gary Butler and Jennifer Crogg, Armand Ebert, Jim Terrell and Carol Killian, Jim and Nina Patterson, Ike Johnson and Nancy Emery and Jerry and Merna Oliver.

Our thanks, too, to all the garden hosts, Beta Zeta Civic Club, the Idaho Statesman and John and Jen Sowers, owners of the Dusty Rose Inn.

The ECHO dancers were the highlight of the "after tour" garden party held on the lawn of the Dusty Rose Inn. Thanks to everyone who donated food for this event. Thank you to Barb Hurt for organizing and decorating for the garden party. She also made the beautiful quilted items for the auction using some of the floral paintings that were done by Mountain Home High School student artists. Other student paintings were used as place mats and on the posters. Thank you, students, and to Brenda Raub, MHHS art teacher, for sharing your talents.

On behalf of the Mountain Home Garden Tour committee, a special thanks to the Mountain Home News for its coverage of the garden tour.
