Skateboard and bike enthusiasts across southern Idaho will gather in Mountain Home to showcase their talents during an event that encourages friendly competition and the spirit of self expression.

Registration for the second annual Open Soar begins at noon June 4 at Richard Aguirre Park with the first events scheduled to follow at 1 p.m.

The number of local and regional competitors expected to attend this year could eclipse last year's figures, which included 27 competitors, according to Phillip Garcia, who is organizing this year's event. With 30 people from Mountain Home already registered, including six BMX freestyle riders, he expects sponsored teams from Boise and Twin Falls to sign up as the event approaches.
