Two injured in 1-84 accident at Exit 90

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Authorities responded to a single-vehicle accident on I-84 near Exit 90 just before 1 p.m. Wednesday that sent two people to the hospital.

Preliminary reports indicated the vehicle, a four-door Lincoln Continental with Utah license plates, went off the right side of the road, clipped the highway exit sign, then briefly got back onto the shoulder of the road before again leaving the roadway on the right side. The vehicle rolled and was spun around in the accident, suffering heavy damage.

In less than 20 minutes the accident scene was cleared and the two passengers in the vehicle transported to Elmore Medical Center for evaluation.

According to initial reports at the scene, the car struck a highway sign and removed one of its metal columns before losing control. The vehicle rolled over once before coming to rest about 100 feet off the westbound side of the interstate. Photo by Brian S. Orban

Official details of the accident and the status of the victims were not immediately available. The incident is under investigation.
