Public submits testimony on Mayfield project

FYI: Mayfield Townsite testimony A third public hearing regarding the Mayfield Townsite project begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the county courthouse. People unable to provide spoken testimony may submit written comments to the county growth and development office.

Community representatives and the public offered their perspectives on plans to build a large-scale community on the county border during a hearing May 3.

The forum on the Mayfield Townsite was one in a series of three scheduled meetings to address whether to approve the project, which would add another 37,000 people within the county.

County residents, including those living in Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry, gained a second chance to offer additional testimony on the planned community during a hearing Tuesday evening with a third hearing slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the county courthouse.

Measuring 5,375 acres or 8.4 square miles, the Mayfield Townsite Planned Community is roughly twice the size of Mountain Home and similar in size to Eagle and Meridian.
