Bruneau Valley Library hosts last Bruneau and Beyond program for season

Friday, May 6, 2011

Bruneau Valley Library will have its last Bruneau and Beyond program for the spring season on May 18. The speaker for this program will be Cort Conley, director of Literary Services at the Idaho Commission on the Arts. Mr. Conley has an extensive background as a writer, editor, and publisher.

His "Idaho River History" presentation is a first-hand folk history of the Middle Fork of the Salmon, the Main Salmon, and the Snake River through Hells Canyon. He has been an independent river guide since 1968 on rivers throughout the West. Conley will explain the human and natural history of these rivers and illustrate the talk with vintage films, photographs and taped recordings about boating, homesteading, or early outfitting on the rivers.

The program is made possible by a grant from the Walter & Leona Dufresne fund of the Idaho Community Foundation. Mr. Conley comes to Bruneau from the Speakers Bureau of the Idaho Humanities Council which is a partial sponsor of the program.

Lunch will be served at noon at the Library in downtown Bruneau at 32073 Ruth Street followed by the program. There is no charge for either; however, the Library requests that anyone wishing to attend either the program or the luncheon should contact the Library by Monday, May 16. In the event of a large registration, the meeting will be moved to a larger space with notices posted. Reservations can be made by calling the library director at 845-2131 or 845-2345.
