Tigers tennis squads tangle at net

The Mountain Home Tigers had its conference tennis match at Emmett rained out last week, but they did get non-conference matches in with The Community School and Jerome. The Mountain Home girls picked up another win over Jerome, while the boys lost to the two teams.

The Tigers went to Sun Valley last Wednesday to take on The Community School, with both teams losing to the Cutthroats.

In girls' singles, Carolyn Bailey won the first match 6-4, 6-4. Natalie Bush lost the second match in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 5-7, and Stephanie Farnsworth lost the third match 2-6, 0-6. In girls' doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger dropped the first match in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 5-7, and Anna Martin and Leah Riley won the second match in three sets, 5-7, 7-6, with a 7-5 tie breaker.

In mixed doubles, Jared Mott and Brittany Ryan won the first match 6-2, 6-3, and Chris Hall and Allie Draper lost the second match 2-6, 2-6.

In boys' singles, Justin Rogow lost the first match 0-6, 0-6, Daniel Courtright lost the second match 1-6, 1-6, and Wilson Ong lost the third match 0-6, 2-6. In boys' doubles, Jacob Hanson and Eric Ward dropped the first match 3-6, 0-6, and Jeremy Gillies and Timothy Austin lost the second match 2-6, 6-7 with a 5-7 tie breaker for Mountain Home.

The Mountain Home girls had another good outing against Jerome, beating them 5-2 Thursday at the airbase courts.

In girls' singles, Carolyn Bailey won the first match 7-6 (TB 10-8), 4-6, 7-6 (TB 10-8). Natalie Bush blanked her second opponent 6-0, 6-0, and Stephanie Farnsworth won by default. In girls' doubles, Tessa Pachner and Emma Wenger won the first match 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (TB 10-8), and Rebecca Young and Brytany Minder lost 2-6, 1-6.

In mixed doubles, Jared Mott and Brittany Ryan won the first match 6-4, 6-2, and Jeremy Gillies and Kali Ireland dropped the second match 5-7, 6-0, 6-7 (TB 4-10).

In boys' singles, Justin Rogow dropped the first match 1-6, 5-7, Daniel Courtright lost the second match 0-6, 0-6, and Wilson Ong lost the third match 0-6, 0-6.

The Tigers have three matches this week. Monday was the makeup match from last week at Emmett. Tuesday, May 3, the Tigers hosted Nampa and Thursday, May 5, the Tigers host Kuna. The District III 4A tennis tourney is May 12-14 at Skyview High School.
