Eighteen months of planning and work came to fruition on a chilly, blustery afternoon as the Boise VA Medical Center officially dedicated its new clinic in Mountain Home last week.

The outpatient clinic fulfills a commitment to make it easier for local military veterans and retirees to receive medical care, said DeWayne Hamlin, director of the Boise VA Medical Center.

"One of our goals was to provide additional access points for veterans closer to their communities," Hamlin said. With more than 8,000 veterans and military retirees living in Elmore and Owyhee counties, this clinic helps the regional veterans agency meet that goal.
