Track teams win at home tourney

Mountain Home hosted a four-team track meet Thursday at Tiger Field, with Mountain Home winning both the girls' meet and boys' competition.

Mountain Home won the girls' competition with 99 points. Middleton was second with 93, Emmett had 47 and Nampa had 27.

Dakota Barrie and Kacee Cameron were double-winners, Barrie capturing both the 100- and 300-meter hurdle events and Cameron winning the long jump and triple jump. McKenzie Dorr won the 3200-meter run and Mountain Home's 800-meter sprint medley relay team of Ashley Harmon, Heather Williams, Tracey Gordon and Kacee Cameron also took first.

Second-place efforts went to Marissa Streeter in the long jump and triple jump, Ashley Harmon in the 100 meters, Haley Schaefer in the 1600-meter run, Jhorie Kelly in the high jump, Christina Segovia in the pole vault, Kristen Kreutzer in the shot put, Keesha Janis-Gibson in the discus and Mountain Home's 4x200-meter relay team (Jaisyn Sarrett, Chloe Baul, Venessa Estrella and Corena Wright).

Third-place efforts went to Sarah Richins in the 800 meters, Christina Segovia in the 100-meter hurdles, Katie Urquidi in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4x100-meter relay team of Aerial Groene, Kristan Jackson, Jaisyn Sarrett and Jhorie Kelly, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Kristan Jackson, Jaisyn Sarrett, Chloe Baul and Venessa Estrella.

Fourth-place efforts went to Aerial Groene in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Haley Schaefer in the 400 meters, Venessa Estrella in the long jump and Shelbie Toenjes in the discus.

Fifth-place efforts went to Sarah Richins in the 1600 meters, Haley Schaefer in the long jump, Jaisyn Sarrett in the triple jump and Kristen Kreutzer in the discus.

Mountain Home won the boys' competition with 76 points -- one ahead of Middleton. Emmett was third with 60 while Nampa earned 59 points.

Initially, Middleton was credited with the victory and Nampa was ahead of Emmett, but after a scoring error on the boys 3200-meter event was discovered, Mountain Home moved ahead of Middleton and Nampa and Emmett switched positions in the final team standings.

First-place efforts for Mountain Home went to Alexander Ling in the 110-meter high hurdles and the high jump, J.T. Cristobal in the 100-meter dash, and the Mountain Home 4x100-meter relay team made up of Juan Silva, John Payton, Michael Daniels and J.T. Cristobal.

Michael Price won the 3200 and was second in the 1600.

Second-place efforts went to Colby Hall in the 200-meters, Ricky Castillo in the 400-meters,Tyler Knauth in the 800 meters, Austin Lisonbee in the 300-meter hurdles, Curtis Jackson in the discus, and the 4x200-meter relay team made up of John Payton, David Katsules, Tyler Knauth and Ricky Castillo.

Third-place efforts went to David Katsules in the 200 meters, Aaron Menhart in the 110-meter high hurdles, the 4x400-meter relay team of Ricky Castillo, Austin Lisonbee, Michael Daniels and Tyler Knauth, and the 1600-meter spring medley relay team of Nick Garza, Juan Silva, Ricky Castillo and Colby Hall.

Fourth-place efforts went to Tyler Knauth in the 400 meters, Chaise Hopkins in the long jump and Michael Daniels in the triple jump.

Fifth-place efforts went to Alexander Ling in the 300-meter hurdles and Jeff Checketts in the shot put.

In related sports news, a select number of Mountain Home thinclads went to the Bandana Invitational Friday and Saturday at Mountain View High School. The Mountain Home squad ended up tied for 14th in the girls' and 20th in the boys' competition.

Dakota Barrie finished in a tie for fourth in the high jump, seventh in the 100-meter hurdles and eighth in the 300-meter hurdles.

Meanwhile, Marissa Streeter was seventh in the triple jump.

Christina Segovia finished tied for seventh in the pole vault with her vault of 9-feet, six inches besting her school record of 9 feet set last week.

Kristen Kreutzer placed eighth in the shot put.

Mountain Home's 4x100- and 4x200-meter relay teams both came in sixth.

J.T. Cristobal finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in the boys' competition.

Mountain Home Tiger track coach Rich Urquidi was pleased with the efforts.

"What a great week. The weather turned out nice for both meets," the coach said. "We had great times and marks from both our home meet on Thursday and the Bandana Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

"Congratulations to Christina Segovia for once again breaking her own school record in the pole vault," Urquidi added.

The Tigers will run at the Vallivue Invitational on Thursday at Vallivue High School.
