City files protest over Mayfield plan

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Mountain Home officials formally filed a protest with the state over proposals to build a pair of planned communities on the western edge of Elmore County.

The protest involves the Mayfield Springs and Mayfield Townsite projects, which seek to convert more than 5,700 acres of agricultural land into a major community that would accommodate nearly 50,000 additional people.

This new protest follows a similar one filed in recent years regarding the developer's plan to transfer water rights from south of Mountain Home to at least one of the proposed planned communities.
