Literary journal seeks entires

The Whistle Pig, Elmore County's literary journal, is seeking writing and art submissions for its third volume, slated for publication in Fall 2011.

The journal accepts original short stories, poems, memoirs, personal musings, drama, song lyrics, and other short literary pieces, as well as a variety of visual art such as drawing, paintings, and photography.

All entries must be submitted by April 15 for consideration. Payment for those chosen for publication is one copy of the magazine.

The Whistle Pig, which showcases local writers and artists, is published annually by the Mountain Home Arts Council's literary arts committee.

Email submissions to literaryarts@mharts.org with subject "The Whistle Pig submission." Artwork may also be submitted to Patti Hamaishi at P&C Plumbing or Brenda Raub at the Mountain Home High School.

Include a cover sheet with a brief biography (not to exceed 50 words), name, address, email, and phone number. Prose should be no more than 8,000 words, double spaced. Poetry should be no more than three pages or 1,200 words, appropriate spacing. Font size should be 12 point Times New Roman with a header in the upper right hand corner on each page stating name, title, and page number.

All writing must be production ready, and the editorial committee reserves the right to make small adjustments in the writing such as spelling, punctuation and usage.

Visual Art should be no more than 8 1/2 by 11 inches. The work will be published in black and white. The selection committee for those works will be juried members of the Visual Arts Committee.
