Legion auxiliary plans poppy poster contest

Friday, February 18, 2011

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 is sponsoring a Poppy Poster Contest.

The contest will have seven classes for first through 12th grades, plus one for special needs students.

Each poster should have a fitting slogan, not to exceed 10 words. The words "buddy" or "buy" cannot be used. The words "American Legion Auxiliary" must be used in the design.

The poster must include a picture of the Flanders Poppy in the correct color -- four red petals with center of green and black (no leaves). An American flag may be used, but no infraction of the flag code.

Media can be watercolors, crayons, powder or oil paint, ink or textures, acrylics, pencil and markers.

The poster should be 11xl4 inches on poster board (no drawing paper). The words "In Memorium" may not be used. On the back, written in ink, should be the entrant's class, name, address, age and grade.

The posters are due April 15. Call Carmen at 587-7624 for pick up.
