Woman's death leads to new hope
As a child, Belinda Fisher was well known for her love and compassion for animals. The second of eight children, she came home one time with a rabbit in tow to spare it from an unmentionable fate. When she got older, she paid out hundreds of dollars to save the life of an gravely injured cat.
They were among the many cats, dogs, rabbits and rodents that Belinda cared for throughout her life.
In fact, her love of animals was matched only by her love of people. Her quirky personality and youthful take on life made it easy for her to quickly make friends.
When she graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1998 as an honor student, she carried on this passion for people and animals. It compelled her to earn her nursing assistant certification, landing her a job as a surgical technician 10 years ago in the Denver area.
Animals remained a part of her life when she married her husband, Charles "David" Fisher III, in 2004. Her older sister, Wendy "Dee" Enokson, recalled how Belinda treated these felines as her own children while dreaming of having children of her own.
Those dreams never came true.
