Facing a record number of competitors, the Mountain Home High School Talkin' Tigers roared to a first-place finish during the community's annual speech and debate competition.

The fourth annual U-Bus-2-Us event brought together 544 students representing 22 schools across southern Idaho, becoming the second largest gathering of motivational speakers in the state.

Competitors from Timberline High School were the closest to Mountain Home, making a 44-mile jaunt to get here. Others from places like Minico High School dealt with a three-hour trip then faced the challenge of immediately having to start competing.

  • Very Impressive, as assistant coach I am proud to be apart of this program. What these kids do is nothing short of spectacular. It really gives me hope for the future.
