After nearly two years of work, the Treasure Valley YMCA formally committed its organization to helping bring a community recreation center to Mountain Home.

Jim Everett, president and CEO for the Treasure Valley Family YMCA in Boise, announced the decision in a letter addressed to the Western Elmore County Recreation District.

Members of the recreation district board read the message during a public meeting Jan. 26.

"We believe that the process has yielded the data and support needed to take the next step toward our shared goal of building a facility that will be a center for programs that develop successful youth, engage people in healthy living and instill a commitment to social responsibility," Everett said. The YMCA remains "very interested" in working with the recreation district to reach that goal.

What the heck does "very interested" mean? Are they fully committed or not? Two years and how many thousands of taxpayer monies were spent on this effort just to get a "very interested" remark in the end? Way to go WECRD.

  • Very interested=NO CONTRACT. Very interested also means HUGE "MANAGEMENT FEES"...that was in the YMCA's recent letter to the WECRD.

    It is all a sham.
