County P&Z airs concerns over 'city'

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

The Elmore County Planning and Zoning Commission continued to debate last week whether or not to approve plans to build a planned community on the county's western border.

During a two-hour meeting on Jan. 5, commission members aired several concerns with the Mayfield Springs community proposal that raised doubts concerning the project's outcome.

In her opening comments, Chairwoman Patty Osborne argued that she thought there was a perceived sense of urgency by the developers aiming to push the project through without responding to questions raised by state and county agencies. She asked if the developer "was willing to work forward with these issues," she said.

How could Elmore County let this plan move forward until the developers answer all the question they need to approve this project? I'll have to read the full story later today but this little blurb makes it sounds like P&Z isn't doing its job.

Had to work during the 12 Jan 2011 meeting. Subscription ran out for the MH Newspaper so haven't read the article. Meeting minutes haven't been posted on the Elmore County website. So I'll just trust P$Z is doing a good job. What exactly are they doing right?
