Passage of a second solar farm off the Grand View Highway will look similar to one approved earlier this year that will look similar to this artist's rendering.

During a 90-minute meeting Dec. 15, the county's planning and zoning commission approved plans for a second alternative energy complex in Elmore County while voting in favor of a new animal burial site north of Mountain Home.

Following passage of a nearly identical generating facility proposal in March, the commission approved plans for a second solar energy farm southwest of town.

Pending final approval by county commissioners, the additional 20 megawatt solar energy farm would cover about 120 acres of desert prairie off the Grand View Highway. It would occupy a section of the existing Simplot property one mile west of the previously approved energy generating complex.
