CLDC wraps up; Capital campaign may follow

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

The Community Leadership Development Committee wrapped up its work last week with co-chairman Mark Hiddleston asking the group, "Where do we go from here?"

The answer wasn't crystal clear.

Last month the CLDC made its final recommendation to the Treasure Valley YMCA board to go for Option 3 -- construction of a full community center including an indoor pool.

The CLDC had been formed by the YMCA, which is under contract with the Western Elmore County Recreation District to explore the possibility of building a community center that would be run by the Y.

After 18 months of work, including developing comprehensive studies of revenue and expenses, three main options had emerged, of which the group eventually focused on two.

The WECRD will take up the follow-up issues at its Jan. 26 board meeting.

I know maybe they can have a study done that gives them some guidance. Oh wait, that has been done already. I say enough is enough on this joke of a rec district.

  • What the story here fails to say is that the entire CLDC did not agree with this path and that one co-chair has decided not to move forward with this group. There are also several members of this group that have quit or will soon quit. Should that not be a clue? The election should have been a BIG clue but it went right over the heads of each and every WECRD Board Member.

There are other things that were left out as well to paint this as much more splendid than it is. It will be 14 years before the pools will be built. Phase I could be started in 4...but ONLY if they can raise the money through donations (unless of course we, the voters, approve a bond).

Can you say PIPE DREAM? The question is what is in the pipe?

Its like Kelly is talking like he has been attending all the meetings at the WECRD office and knows just what they are doing which is nothing but spending money taken from the tax payers. If you look you won't see Kelly's name on any of the minutes from the WECRD. I don't know if he has been to CLDC meetings or not. I am refering to his blog today. Bazooka has the answer to all of it, and that is what he calls the stove pipe.
