Fire chief issues consumer advisory

Thursday, December 16, 2010

The city fire chief issued an advisory Wednesday afternoon to alert local businesses and residents of an unlicensed company conducting door-to-door sales in the Mountain Home area.

Employees with Black Fire Protection didn't have required solicitors' licenses to do business in Mountain Home, said fire chief Phil Gridley.

Based out of South Jordan, Utah, with an office in Boise, the company had representatives in the Mountain Home area over recent months offering fire extinguisher maintenance services.

However, these employees never filed for local solicitors' licenses, according to a representative with city hall. City ordinance requires people to have an approved license before they sell products or services within city limits.

A representative with the Better Business Bureau in Boise had no complaints on file from consumers or businesses in southern Idaho regarding the company or its employees.
