The Mountain Home Tiger girls cross country team finished fifth in the state at the 4A state girls cross country race at Soda Springs on Saturday.

Bishop Kelly won the 4A girls race. Preston was second, Twin Falls third, Jerome fourth, Mountain Home fifth, Skyview sixth, Hillcrest seventh, Madison eighth, Moscow ninth and Bonneville 10th, followed by Century, Kuna, Sandpoint and Wood River.

Sarah Richins led the Mountain Home runners. Her time of 21:46.33 was good for 22nd place, Jordan Vivier came in 29th (22:03.49), Kacee Cameron was 37th (22:15.96), Shelby Henrick 44th (22:27.68), Arisha Karren 46th (22:28.77), Haley Schaefer,75th (23:29.02) and Ashley Mayberry 85th (23:45.19).

"The girls didn't have one of their better races, but they did run well and ran together as a pack, and you've got to be happy to be one of the top five teams in the state." said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root.

Wood River won the boys 4A race. Mountain Home qualified individuals for state, but not the entire boys' team. Dylan Johnson came in 46th, in a time of 18:20.58, and Mike Price finished 78th with a time of 19:09.61.

"Dylan Johnson ran really well," said Coach Root.

"Overall, I'm really proud of the kids and how they ran all year. It's been a great season."
