The Emmett Huskies scored 29 points in a four-minute time space in the third quarter to pull away from the Mountain Home Tigers for a 49-20 SIC 4A Conference football win Friday night at Emmett.

The Tigers were the first to get on the scoreboard, going 50 yards in just two plays mid-way through the first quarter.

Starting at the 50, Jake Hennessey connected with Alex Rodriguez on a 27-yard pass play to the Emmett 23-yard line. On the next play, Curtis Jackson took it 23 yards for a score. The point-after try by Dion Salinas made it 7-0, Tigers, with 5:03 left in the first half.

Two possessions later, Gary Poston hooked up with Devon Hundley on a 60-yard scoring strike, and with the PAT by Patrick O'Mahoney, the game was tied at 7-7 with 2:17 left to go in the first quarter.

The Tigers answered with a 70-yard, six-play scoring drive with Jake Hennessey hitting Colton Zamora on a 33-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second quarter. With the PAT boot by Dion Salinas, it was 14-7, Mountain Home, with 11:53 left in the first half.

Emmett scored late in the half, going 43 yards in six plays, Gary Poston taking it in from a yard out. Zamora blocked the PAT attempt and the Tigers took a 14-13 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Mountain Home got the ball to start the third quarter but fumbled on the third play. Dakota Cole ran it back for a score but a penalty nullified the touchdown and gave them the ball on the Tiger 26. Three plays later, Gary Poston threw 24 yards to Orlando Rodriguez for a score. With Patrick O'Mahoney's PAT, the Huskies led for the first time, 20-14, with 9:41 left in the third quarter.

Mountain Home struggled on its next possession, and was forced to punt. The snap from center sailed out of the end zone for a safety, and Emmett led 22-14 with 8:15 left in the third quarter.

Mountain Home then punted the ball back to Emmett after the safety, and Casey Barton returned it to the Mountain Home five-yard line. Wyatt Watts then ran it in on the first play for a touchdown. With the PAT, it was 29-14, Emmett, with 7:59 left in the quarter.

On Mountain Home's next possession, Poston intercepted a pass and returned it to the Mountain Home 30. Three plays later, Hundley raced 21 yards for a score to make it 35-14, Emmett, with 6:32 left in the quarter.

Poston intercepted another pass on Mountain Home's next possession. On the first play from scrimmage Hundley raced 60 yards to score. With the PAT, it was 42-14, Emmett, with 5:37 left in the third quarter.

That would be the scoring until early in the fourth quarter, when Hundley scored on a 38-yard run. With the PAT, it was 49-14 with 10:54 left in the game.

Jesse Corbett recovered an Emmett fumble on the Huskies 37-yard line, and Hennessey completed a pass to Alex Rodriguez to the four-yard line. Curtis Jackson took it in to make it 49-20 with 6:22 left.

Tigers Head Coach Brian Floyd said injuries hurt the team's performance. Zamora went down with a concussion and a separated shoulder while Anthony Castillo left the game with a knee injury.

The Tigers were also without Tyler Wright for the game, who reportedly broke his foot the night before in a non-football injury.

Curtis Jackson was the bright spot for the Tigers, who ran 20 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Juan Silva carried the ball five times for 22 yards, Zamora had five rushes for five yards, Castillo had one rush for two yards, J.T. Cristobal rushed once for minus two yards and Hennessey had minus 34 yards on nine rushes.

The loss put an end to the Tigers' football season, which saw them go 3-6 overall and 2-5 in conference.
