Student wins speech contest

One week after winning the Elmore County Soil and Water Conservation District Speech Contest in Mountain Home, Betsy Lynn captured the Regional Soil and Water Conservation District Speech Contest at Weiser last Tuesday.

Lynn, a member of the award winning Mountain Home High School Talkin' Tigers Speech and Debate team, will now compete in the state final next month in Burley.

The MHHS junior defeated seven of her teammates in the local contest on Oct. 5, then easily won the regional event last Tuesday., according to Mountain Home High School speech program advisor John Petti.

Lynn has won many awards for her prepared speeches. Her speech for the Soil and Water Conservation District Contest was entitled "Conservation Habits Equal Healthy Habitats."
