Mountain Home managed a tie with Kuna last week before dropping hard-fought games to Nampa and Middleton in high school boy's soccer action.

Tigers 1, Kavemen 1

The Mountain Home Tigers battled the Kuna Kavemen to a 1-1 tie last Tuesday at Kuna.

Andrea Di Martino scored Mountain Home's goal. Meanwhile, Jack Richelieu and Tomas Guillen combined for 12 saves.

Mountain Home Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh thought his team played well against the Kavemen.

"The guys really, really played great. They are a much improved team. I think they've caught a lot of teams by surprise. They sure caught us the first time, came down here and beat us 2-1. "We were hoping to go up there and do the same to them, but we managed to come away with a tie."

Nampa 5, Mountain Home 3

Mountain Home dropped its regular season final to Nampa, 5-3, Wednesday at Eastside Park in Mountain Home. The Tigers battled back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game at 3-3, but Nampa scored twice late in the game to win 5-3.

Austin Lucas scored the Tigers' first goal off an assist by Ben Cumber. Francisco Dominguez scored off an assist by Dominic Torres and Torres scored the final Mountain Home goal.

Jack Richelieu and Tomas Guillen combined for eight saves on goal.

Coach Walsh thought his guys battled hard.

"Yeah, they did. I'm glad the guys didn't let down. We didn't have a real good first half. When we spot guys goals, it's hard to come back, but they fought back and tied it up. Then a mistake gave them the go-ahead goal, and the second goal, we were pushing trying to get the equalizer and they countered us."

The Tigers finished the regular season 1-12-3 overall, and 1-10-3 in league play. They went into district as the number eight seed.

Middleton 1, Mountain Home 0

It may have been number one seed against number eight seed Saturday morning at Kuna in the first round of the District III 4A Boys Soccer Tournament, but Mountain Home, which has only one win to its credit, battled like a champion before falling to the Vikings, 1-0.

Mountain Home faced Kuna on Monday in a battle to stay alive in the district tourney.
