Hold a yard sale for the government?

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Dear editor:

Would like to make some helpful suggestions. Please use your gift of faith and rhetorical skill to open minds.

Our recovery must begin at the mirror of self correction. We must turn from slander and self glory and embrace mutual respect and unity. A polarized nation can not survive. We need to change our attitudes, selfish greed, stupidity, and the way we live our lives if we expect any real recovery.

We must face the mirror of self correction, change our priorities and take care of business at home.

We are not correcting our personal and collective problems and losing the wars at home; while fighting distant wars at great cost. Our enemies do not need to plot in distant lands.

Our first enemy is here, selfish greed, stupidity, fanatics of all kinds, rampant drug addiction with resulting gangs and crime.

Our attitudes contribute or diminish our recovery, Addictions of all kinds, especially drugs, drain valuable resources and jobs from our economy. Fanatics create an atmosphere of fear and distrust.

The wars that we are fighting, and the wars at home we are not, are what drains the life from our country.

Debt! Try something different -- like a national potlatch auction, where items donated, cars, art, computers, etc., are auctioned and the proceeds applied toward running our government, All gifts are tax deductible. The largest giver, at each auction, would be honored as chief of the potlatch.

Thank you for your attention.
