Tiger runners place during Centipede cross-country race

The Mountain Home Tigers cross country team competed at the Steve Thompson Memorial Centipede cross country race at Les Bois Park in Boise this week.

The Tiger girls finished sixth, the boys tenth.

Bishop Kelly won the girls competition with a total of 34 points. Boise was second with 49, Eagle was third with 62, Centennial fourth with 68, Rocky Mountain fifth with 149 and Mountain Home sixth with 194, followed by Capital at 202, Meridian at 238, Weiser with 305 points, Borah with 305 and Nampa with 354.

Jordan Vivier led the Mountain Home girls, finishing 33rd in a time of 22:22.99.

Arisha Karren came in 37th, with a time of 22:49.87, Haley Schaefer was 39th (23:00.34), Kacee Cameron was 41st (23:11.44), McKenzie Dorr was 44th (23:17.35), Shelby Henrick finished 51st (23:49.64) and Ashley Mayberry was 52nd (23:51.69).

Eagle won the boys race with 27 points. Rocky Mountain was second with 37, Centennial third with 95, Boise fourth, with 111, Bishop Kelly, fifth with 122, followed by Meridian and Capital at 151, Borah at 259, Nampa with 268 points, Mountain Home with 305 and Weiser with 343.

Dylan Johnson led the Mountain Home boys, finishing 55th in a time of 19:23.30.

Mike Price came in 57th with a new PR time of 19:31.68, John Dodge was 60th with a time of 19:36.90, Jake Schaefer was 64th with a new PR of 19.43.79, Daniel Courtright, finished 69th with a new personal record time of 20.11.51, Steven Kreyche was 71st with a new PR of 20:14.53 and Taylor Croft had a new PR of 20:48.14, which placed him 74th.

"This was a unique race in that each team of runners was tied together with a rope for the first two miles, then they dropped the rope for the last mile and finished the race as individuals," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root.

"It was great for the slower runners on the teams as they were encouraged and pulled, and in some cases pushed, by the faster runners," he added.

The Tigers will run at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park on Sept. 25.
