McKenna to dedicate school's wind turbine

Friday, September 17, 2010

Richard McKenna Charter High School will herald the start of its new alternative energy initiative during a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday.

The dedication of the residential-scale wind turbine marks the completion of a three-year project involving students from five of the school's alternative energy classes.

This initiative began after the class stumbled across the U.S. Department of Energy's Wind for Schools program. The program helps "raise awareness in rural America about the benefits of wind energy while simultaneously developing a wind energy knowledge base in future leaders of our communities, states and nation," according to a Energy Department statement.

  • Great job kids, I may want to hire you to build one for my home, with electric rates so high! Seriously, why don't Mtn. Home look at this as a good alternative energy source for everyone?
