FOUR IDAHO WOMEN AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS

Saturday, August 28, 2010

The 2010-2011 Gladys Bales Scholarship Winners were recently announced by the Idaho State Business & Professional Women, providing $1000 scholarships to four deserving Idaho students. The winners are Tiphanie Evans of Pocatello, Leah Meister of Bonners Ferry, Lori Anaya of Coeur d'Alene, and Mistala Miller of St. Maries.

This is the first year of the Gladys Bales Scholarship Program, made possible by a generous donation from Past State President Gladys Bales. Three scholarships were set aside for Idaho women, age 25 or older and one scholarship was set aside for a family member of the BPW organization.

The Gladys Bales Scholarship Program provides scholarship funds to Idaho women seeking new job skills, training, and educational opportunities to support themselves and their families. This scholarship is a continuing education scholarship for Idaho women and can be used at an accredited U.S. university, college, or technical institute.

Eligibility requirements and application packets for the Gladys Bales Scholarship Program were available online at www.idahostatebpw.org with a July 31st deadline for the 2010-2011 school year. The BPW organization will be offering another scholarship opportunity for the next school year in the spring, close to the Equal Pay Day in April. "Announcing our scholarship on Equal Pay Day will serve two purposes," said Idaho State BPW President Gail Miller, "It helps bring focus to women's challenge of equal pay and helps bridge the current wage gap in Idaho by offering assistance in obtaining a degree."
