Letter to the Editor

God bless America

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Dear editor:

First, let me tell you some things about myself. I am 84 years old and still very politically active.

Last month I received my 50-year membership pin from the American Legion Post 26. I was Post Commander of that Post, and very instrumental in getting the American Legion Convention here.

In the military, I served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. I was Precinct 3 Committeeman in Mountain Home, Idaho.

The smartest people we have say we should kill or capture the enemy before they kill or capture us. What is happening today is like a rerun of a movie I have seen before. Been there, done that.

It appears self evident that some time in the very near future we will probably be involved in World War III.

I find people from my generation have a strong respect for this great Republic we live in. If we had to, we would go to war again to save this country, and if some of us were to lose our lives, so be it.

We don't need or want communism, socialism, or any other "ism."

There are people that do not want the word "GOD" allowed on our money, in the Pledge of Allegiance, or in our schools, but is only through the grace of God this country has survived.

I pray God continues to bless America.
