The publisher of the Mountain Home News earned the title of parade grand marshal for Air Force Appreciation Day's golden anniversary on Sept. 11.

During a Chamber of Commerce meeting Monday afternoon, officials named Coleen (Waters) Swenson to lead this year's parade through Mountain Home.

Her selection comes 41 years after her father, Lloyd Waters, was named the first AFAD grand marshal in 1970. He became the first in a long line of community leaders to hold the once-in-a-lifetime distinction.
