The Mountain Home City Council will meet Monday evening to continue discussions on whether to increase water rates for customers

During the public meeting, council members expect to address a proposed rate hike to cover costs for needed utility repairs and other long-term improvements.

"The status quo won't work," Mayor Tom Rist told the council at its Aug. 9 meeting.

  • Don't we pay enough for water now? Seems like we are paying a fortune for a system that isn't even working right. All we are paying for is bad water pressure and dirt or whatever that is in our water, which you can't even fix. Nothing like having to cllean the tub out eveyday because of the dirt that comes in with the water. Is the city going to replace our water heaters when they go bad and have to be replaced by something that is beyond our control or the brand new faucet I put in my kitchen that was working fine aand had good preasure til this dirt started flowing in with the water, now I hardly get any suds in my sink when I try to fill it up for dish water. We all know the answer to that is a big fat NO! Come on its hard enough to scrap up the money for our everyday expenses now don't add to that burden by increasing the water bills again.

  • If we keep having to cut back and pay more for cleaners to take the crappy water stains and dirt out of our tubs and toilets and sinks, let the city councle pay for my added expense. We put in whole house filter, and water softner. we still get dirt and stains. No wonder the yards look like crap around town people can't afford to garden and water there lawns. My husbend used to like to soak in the tub he is 76 on oxygen an has back pains. After receiving our bill he now just takes showers. And you want me to pay more.. come on. get a life. The seniors here in town do not need more put on them as it is.
