Living like a Colonial child... to a point

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Emma Binion, 9, tries her best to demonstrate proper etiquette while sipping a cup of tea at an American Girl Tea social Saturday morning at the city library.

Held in conjunction with the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Library Traveling Exhibit at the library, the high tea included music and parlor games while the youngsters learned to make rock candy and paper fans.

Some of the children came to the social dressed in Colonial period dress while others brought along dolls named after characters in the Felicity Books -- a series of children's stories highlighting life in the nation's earliest days.
