Glenns Ferry starts new pioneer history celebration

Mountain men will be on hand to demonstrate knife and tomahawk throwing skills.

The Three Island Celebration (formerly Three Island Crossing) will take place this weekend in Glenns Ferry.

Although the Snake River crossing re-enactment has been removed from the program, the Three Island Crossing Organization has worked hard to create "a wagon-load of fun for people of all ages," a spokesperson said.

For the first time since the town began celebrating its pioneer heritage, activities for Friday will be held downtown. Friday's activities include a chili cook-off, arts and craft vendors, and a street dance.
