Classes in the Mountain Home School District will get underway next Tuesday, Aug. 17.

Elementary registration was held last week with the remaining schools in the district conducting registration this week.

All registration activities will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the schools where the students will attend. Attendance zone maps are available at the district's website (www.mtnhomesd.org), or parents can find out which schools their children will attend by calling the district office at 587-2580.

  • I don't remember their reasoning, but it actually works out much better for the kids, IMHO. By starting now, the first semester will end when they begin their Christmas break. Years past, they would have winter break, then return in January for a few weeks and have finals before beginning the new semester. My opinion, their completion of finals prior to the break will give them much better results. Also, this allows graduation to be mid-May prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
