Scouts make 50-mile canoe trek

The Scouts launched from Anderson Ranch Dam to start their five-day trip.

Members of Boy Scout Troop 57 and Crew 57 launched eight canoes on Anderson Ranch Dam last month for a five-day canoe trip.

A total of eleven Scouts ranging in age from 10-13 with Scout ranks from Scout to Star, along with five leaders, packed their gear into canoes and paddled the reservoir's shores until they had traveled a total of 52.6 miles.

The scouts not only paddled their canoes for five days they also completed over five hours of community service, cleaning camping areas and creating brush and firewood piles in various locations.
