With the once-every-five-years international Jailadi event concluding in Boise last week, local Basques are now turning their attention to the annual Basque Picnic in Mountain Home on Aug. 14.

This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the local celebration of Basque culture.

The event, open to the general public, will be held at the Basque Park, adjacent to the old Bengeochea Hotel and the historic Basque pelota (outdoor raquetball) court.
