Two range fires burning in county

Saturday, July 24, 2010
Fire crews from three different agencies are working to control the fire above off Beet Dump Road.

Fire crews from at least four different jurisdictions are battling two range fires that broke out a mid-day Saturday.

The largest at 2:30 p.m. was along Beet Dump Road in the vicinity of the dairies. Crews from the Mountain Home Fire Department, the Bureau of Land Management and the Mountain Home Air Force Base Fire Department were responding.

Some roads near the fire are being blocked in order to allow emergency and fire crews into the area.

The second fire is near the power lines at the base of Bennett Mountain. The Glenns Ferry Fire Department is responding to that blaze.

Very dry cheatgrass and a light breeze are helping both fires spread at this time.

The size of both fires and their cause are not immediately available (as of 2:30 p.m. Saturday).
