A Mountain Home police detective injured in a fireworks explosion July 3 returned to limited duty this week following a follow-up medical appointment Monday.

Ty Larson sustained second- and third-degree burns to his right hand when a shell detonated in his hands as he helped to set up the city's annual fireworks show at the Desert Canyon Golf Course.

Larson, a detective with the city's police force, also serves as a volunteer with the Mountain Home Fire Department.
