Lawson, not Corder, to represent local GOP at convention

Wednesday, June 9, 2010
During a joint meeting of the Elmore and Boise County Republican Central Committees last Thursday, precinct committeemen voted to send Marla Lawson to the state convention.

Incumbent state Sen. Tim Corder will not be attending the state Republican Party convention in Idaho Falls June 25-26, but the woman he beat in the primary election will go as a delegate representing this area from legislative District 22.

During a joint meeting of the Elmore and Boise County Republican Central Committees, held last Thursday in Mountain Home, precinct committeemen voted to send Marla Lawson of Boise County, whom Corder beat by a 53-47 percent margin in the primary election, to the state convention, but they rejected the nomination of Corder as a delegate.

The meeting was held as part of a standard reorganization of party central committees following the May 25 election. The delegate vote reflected a growing division between moderate and conservative Republicans in the local party.

  • The Committeemen decided? Last I checked the people spoke (voted) and Corder won. So let me get this straight, the people vote in a free election, who they want to represent them and if the Committeemen don't like it they just pick whomever they want to represent us. Sounds like the Committeemen could care less about the people and care more about having a koolaid drinker that will not speak how they feel, but rather will speak "Republican", right or wrong.

Regardless of how you feel about Corder and how he voted/spoke at the last Republican Party Convention he is our representative, not Lawson. We told you that a couple weeks ago by electing Corder.

Do you guys (Committeemen) just make these rules up as you need them. How the heck can you choose someone other than THE elected reprehensive?

Be assured "Committeemen" the day to vote for or against you will come. I would caution you, if you want to get elected again, don't make my mind up for me. You work for me. I will TELL you, by voting, who I want representing me.

  • Mike- It's taken me a while, but I've learned that it will never be a productive use of my time to write, nor a productive use of time for someone to read, a "debate" with you. I don't engage in debates where thoroughly debunked urban legends are presented as facts- like when you stated that "Target is a French-owned company that doesn't support veterans" (neither is true.) I simply don't have the time or patience to do your homework in addition to mine. It is also clear that whatever real facts are presented, they are dismissed or ignored when they conflict with pre-conceived notions, making it clear that nothing will sway your opinion, which is why a debate is not worth my time. As to the "RINO" charge- many of your positions are clearly planks in the Constitution Party platform rather than Republican Party planks. You ran for Republican precinct committeeman in 2008 as a write-in, and did not receive a single vote- not even your own. I think that makes it pretty clear who the "RINO" is. 'Nuff said.

Townman- you are dead on. Find your committeeman and let him know how you feel. The next Primary election will be 2012, so make sure people remember, and remember to vote in the Primary.

  • So Geoff...when corder introduced a bill to increase speed limits for trucks---that was to help out the people of Idaho? Seems to me like there are trucks that run around town and this state with the Corder name on them. So, he was that law going to help?

Now, Mr. Corder proposes to put the control of the treatment of animals such as those on dairy "farms" in the hands of the Dept. of Ag. Hmmmmmmm. The same Dept. of Ag. that cannot take care of the things already tasked to them. So, how in the heck will they "regulate" this when they cannot keep up with what they have.

Tim Corder is all about helping out his pals and friends. Being in his office at 5:00 a.m. does not make him the best person to represent Idaho. Steering clear of his own special RINO interests would be a start. Really, what has good old Tim done for the state? Please, enlighten me. Still waiting on that cite of federal law that mandates double insurance coverage for school employees as well as city employees. Guess debate of any sort these days is not really worth your time.
