Wednesday, June 2, 2010

A Mountain Home man convicted in March for his role in a fatal car accident faces seven years in prison after sentencing in District Court last Friday.

In addition to the fixed prison time, Michael Martin received an indeterminate sentence of up to 12 more years in confinement along with a $2,500 fine and orders to pay other court costs.

During the trial that ended March 10, the jury found Martin guilty of felony drunk driving and a second felony of leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries or fatalities.

  • Only seven years for killing someone? With good behavior he could be out in what, 3 years? This scum bag should get life. No good drunk.

  • If you are going to post a message, you may want to consider that you should be accurate. Three separate juries never reached the conclusion that Martin killed anyone. In fact, the first jury acquitted him of two counts of second degree murder and two counts of voluntary manslaughter. All three juries were unable to reach a unanimous decision as to the vehicular manslaughter!

  • Ltngblt:

Before you defend the scum, read all of his priors. DUI, leaving the scene of an accident before this one, domestic, using a car without permission, and on and on and on. Were you at the sentencing? Did you hear what the judge said? Did you hear what Mike said and it was all about him, and not about the families of the deceased?

Before you jump on anyone else in this forum, please write all of the convictions he has had in the past, in this forum, and then see if you really want to hold this man up in high esteem.

At least he is being put away for a short while so that he is not a detriment to anyone else in society for the time being.
