Hospital must work to save our doctors

Friday, May 28, 2010

Dear editor:

What the residents of Elmore County need to be made aware of is that this situation affects them, whether or not they are patients at Trinity Mountain, use the local hospital, or seek all their medical care in Boise. If you are a taxpayer, your taxes were used to recruit these two doctors in 2007 (approximately $80,000+ was the recruitment budget -- $40,000 per physician) and additional taxpayer money will be used to recruit their replacements in the hospital-owned Trinity Mountain Clinic.

Words are a dime a dozen and for all the promises, "motions" and statements being made, actions still speak louder than words. There still is an unresolved question out there... why are the taxpayers and the community not being served best and with the utmost of financial responsibility by retaining the two doctors in their current location.

The Elmore Medical Center Hospital District is allowed to contract directly with Drs. Baldridge and Jeffery to practice in the Clinic. The citizens of Elmore County should make their voices heard by contacting the members of the Board of Trustees and Mr. Greg Maurer to encourage them to act in the best interest of the community by doing what is fiscally responsible.
